KATHMANDU: Today, roads in seven different parts of Nepal have been blocked due to landslides and flood-related damages.
According to Nepal Police, the Jajarkot–Dolpa section is completely obstructed.
This morning, a landslide consisting of rocks and soil fell at Bhirkunas, Nalgad Municipality–11 in Jajarkot, fully blocking the Jajarkot–Dolpa road.
Similarly, the Beni–Darbang section in Myagdi is also completely blocked. Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Vinod Ghimire reported that at 5:25 a.m., a landslide carrying mud and debris fell at Ghumau-ne cliff, Beni Municipality–4, obstructing traffic entirely.
In Chitwan, the Muglin–Narayangadh road at Tuin Khola has been blocked for two days following a landslide that occurred on the evening of Ashwin 3 (6:25 p.m.) in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality–5.
Deputy Inspector General Ghimire noted that repeated landslides in the area have made clearance difficult. “The landslide has continued intermittently, and clearance efforts have been ongoing since Friday. We aim to reopen the road by this afternoon, though the risk of falling debris persists,” he said.
Floods have also damaged the Miteri Bridge in Rasuwa, which connects Nepal and China, disrupting traffic.
Additionally, the Jajarkot–Dolpa section (Bheri Corridor) in Aathbisikot Municipality–6, Rukum West, remains blocked. In Bhote Koshi, Kodari, a landslide has fully obstructed the Araniko Highway.
Due to the ongoing monsoon, the BP Highway will remain closed at night to prevent accidents and disasters caused by heavy rainfall.
Until further notice, commercial vehicles will not be allowed to operate on the highway from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., while private vehicles are permitted.
