MP Rai questions govt delay in Bhojpur relief support
Rai expressed disappointment that despite informing the House and meeting the Home Minister regarding the issue, there had been no concrete response or assistance on the ground.
KATHMANDU: An opposition lawmaker has raised concerns over the federal government’s absence in addressing disaster-affected communities, questioning its responsiveness to citizens’ needs.
Speaking in Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Dhurvaraj Rai of the opposition Shram Sanskriti Party, asked, “Where is the central government?” while criticizing the lack of relief support following storm damage in Bhojpur.
He said a storm in Chaitra had damaged 65 houses and blown off roofs of eight schools in the district, but no government relief had reached the affected families even after a long delay.
Rai expressed disappointment that despite informing the House and meeting the Home Minister regarding the issue, there had been no concrete response or assistance on the ground.
He urged the government to take immediate action to address the suffering of the affected citizens, stressing that the voices of disaster victims were being ignored.
