MP Parajuli calls for joint efforts to boost exports post-LDC Graduation
Parajuli argued that coordinated, unified efforts for branding and marketing Nepalese products would be more effective than fragmented initiatives.
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli has emphasized the need for strong collaboration between the government and the private sector to tackle challenges and seize opportunities following Nepal’s graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category in 2026.
Speaking at an interactive session titled “Promoting Ready-Made Garment Exports Post-LDC Graduation: Challenges and Opportunities”, MP Parajuli stressed that sustaining export trade requires bilateral negotiations and robust free trade agreements (FTAs).
He pledged that parliamentary committees, once fully formed, would prioritize addressing the private sector’s concerns.
Parajuli argued that coordinated, unified efforts for branding and marketing Nepalese products would be more effective than fragmented initiatives.
Highlighting the role of industry organizations, he urged bodies such as the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), and the Handicraft Association of Nepal to jointly organize international trade exhibitions to strengthen Nepal’s global market presence.
MP Parajuli also lauded the government’s recent reforms, including the 50% reduction in infrastructure and customs duties on petroleum imports, calling it a measure that would provide relief to citizens. He cited the new 24-hour driving license printing system as another example of effective governance aimed at streamlining services.
Additionally, he encouraged the private sector to review and provide input on the recently tabled Nepal Tourism Bill, assuring that parliamentary committees would be fully operational within the next two to three weeks, after which economic and trade issues would gain momentum.
