MP Gurung urges govt to address infrastructure gaps at Pokhara Stadium
Speaking during zero hour in Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Gurung emphasized that without floodlights, evening sports events cannot be held at the stadium.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Man Bahadur Gurung has strongly criticized the lack of basic infrastructure at the Pokhara Stadium, highlighting the absence of floodlights and a swimming pool as key setbacks.
Speaking during zero hour in Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Gurung emphasized that without floodlights, evening sports events cannot be held at the stadium.
Likewise, the absence of a swimming pool has prevented both national and international-level swimming competitions from taking place in Pokhara.
He called on the government to expedite the construction of essential facilities such as floodlights, a swimming pool, and a dedicated training center at the Pokhara Stadium.
Despite Pokhara’s immense potential to be developed as a sports tourism hub, Gurung expressed concern that the lack of infrastructure is forcing local talents to migrate elsewhere.
He stressed that only the development of proper sports infrastructure can bring meaningful improvements to the sector.
