MP Giri demands govt clarification over alleged SSB entry in Susta
MP Bharat Giri said armed SSB personnel allegedly entered Ward No. 5 of Susta Rural Municipality on June 13 without prior permission.
KATHMANDU: A lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has called on the government to clarify reports that personnel of India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) entered Nepali territory in the Susta area of West Nawalparasi.
Speaking during Monday’s House of Representatives meeting under a special session, MP Bharat Giri said armed SSB personnel allegedly entered Ward No. 5 of Susta Rural Municipality on June 13 without prior permission.
He claimed that local farmers resisted the incursion and forced the personnel to retreat.
Giri stressed that the incident reflects a weak state presence along the border, leaving local residents to safeguard national territory on their own. “I stand here not only as a representative but as a burning Nepali heart wounded by repeated attacks on our geography and sovereignty,” he said in Parliament.
He further warned that insecurity persists across multiple sensitive border points, from Pashupatinagar to Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura, due to an open and poorly managed frontier.
The MP urged the government to establish a clear border policy, strengthen security deployment in sensitive areas, and raise the issue firmly in upcoming high-level diplomatic talks with India.
Giri also praised local farmers in Susta for their resistance, calling for state recognition of their role in defending national territory.
