KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Jayanti Devi Rai has called on the government to inform the National Assembly about the condition of Nepali citizens residing in Israel and Iran amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking during Thursday’s National Assembly meeting, Rai expressed concern over the distress faced by families of Nepalis living in the conflict-affected regions. She stressed that immediate return is not possible for many and urged the government to prioritize their safety.

Rai criticized the actions of powerful nations, accusing them of oppressing weaker states and expanding their influence through intervention.

Condemning Israel’s continued assaults, she highlighted the loss of thousands of Palestinian lives, including innocent children, women, and the elderly.

More than two million have been displaced, she said, calling the situation a violation of international law and human rights.

Rai warned that the growing conflicts between global powers could potentially escalate into a third world war, which would bring devastating consequences for all nations.
