KATHMANDU: RSP lawmaker Bipin Acharya has urged the government to ensure equal development rights for all citizens through this year’s national budget, calling for a scientific, just, and transparent allocation of resources for infrastructure development.

Speaking during a session of the House of Representatives, Bipin Acharya emphasized that budget distribution must be based on fairness and evidence-based planning, rather than political bias or uneven prioritization.

He specifically drew attention to Taraigaun Airport, describing it as the country’s second-oldest airport, established in 2011 B.S., yet still awaiting meaningful upgrades despite its long history and strategic importance.

Highlighting its regional significance, Acharya said the airport is directly linked to the economic development of Dang as well as nearby districts including Pyuthan, Salyan, Rolpa, and Rukum.

He noted that while population growth and urbanization in the Dang region have accelerated, the airport’s condition has remained largely unchanged for decades.

He argued that the state has failed to adequately prioritize infrastructure that supports the economic upliftment of nearly 1.8 million people connected to the region.

“If the government does not intend to ensure economic prosperity for the people of Dang, Salyan, Pyuthan, Rolpa, and Rukum, it should clearly state the reason. Otherwise, every citizen has the right to demand a scientific, fair, and transparent basis for why their required infrastructure has not been delivered,” he added.
