KATHMANDU: French superstar Kylian Mbappé scored twice as Real Madrid triumphed 2-1 over Villarreal in Saturday’s La Liga clash at the latter’s home ground.

However, Real Madrid quickly responded, with Mbappé equalizing just 10 minutes later.
In the 23rd minute, the French forward struck again to put Real Madrid in front, and they held onto that lead for the remainder of the match.
With this victory, Real Madrid now leads the La Liga standings with 60 points from 28 matches.
Barcelona, who have played two fewer games, sit second with 57 points. Villarreal, on the other hand, remains in 5th place with 44 points from 27 matches.
In other La Liga action on Saturday, Real Mallorca defeated Espanyol 2-1, while Celta Vigo edged Real Valladolid 1-0.
Girona and Valencia played out a 1-1 draw, and Las Palmas and Alavés ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
