RSP releases list of 384 Central Committee candidates (with list)

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has released the preliminary list of candidates for its Central Committee election, including 384 contenders vying for leadership positions, the party’s Election Commission announced.
According to the party’s revised statute, the Central Committee will comprise 158 members in total.
Of these, 99 members will be elected through the ongoing general convention, while 51 will be nominated by the party chairperson.
Additionally, the presidents of all seven provincial committees will serve as ex-officio members.
The party’s first national general convention is currently underway in Chitwan.
Although voting was originally scheduled to begin at 9 AM, the process has been delayed and has yet to start, according to election officials.
Earlier, party President Rabi Lamichhane was elected unopposed.
The election process for other central committee positions is still ongoing, the Election Commission confirmed.
