KATHMANDU: Canada and South Africa are set to meet in the first knockout-stage match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after both teams secured places in the Round of 32.
South Africa made history by reaching the World Cup knockout stage for the first time, defeating South Korea 1-0 in their final Group A match.
The victory ensured a runners-up finish in the group and a place in the next round.
Canada, meanwhile, advanced as runners-up from Group B despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Switzerland in their final group-stage encounter.
The knockout clash between Canada and South Africa will be played at Los Angeles Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 12:45 a.m. Nepal time.
