Massive fire breaks out in Tehran market, injures several

KATHMANDU: A major fire erupted Tuesday in a market in Tehran, Iran, according to the state news agency IRNA.

The blaze occurred in the Jannat Abad area of western Tehran.

Citing Jalal Maleki, a spokesperson for Tehran’s Fire Department, IRNA reported that firefighters from five different stations rushed to the scene.

The fire reportedly started from a shack covering approximately 2,000 square meters.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Shervin Tabrizi, a spokesperson for Tehran’s Emergency Medical Services, said four ambulances and one ambulance bus were dispatched to transport the injured to hospitals.
