KATHMANDU: Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 3-1 in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals at the Etihad Stadium, securing a 5-1 aggregate victory to reach the final.
Omar Marmoush scored twice within the first 29 minutes, followed by a goal from Tijjani Reijnders.
Anthony Elanga pulled one back for Newcastle in the second half, but it was merely a consolation.
City, who rested several key players including Erling Haaland, dominated from the start.
This marks Manchester City’s 10th Carabao Cup final appearance.
They will face Arsenal next month.
The win also extends City’s remarkable home record against Newcastle, with 12 consecutive wins at the Etihad and 18 victories in their last 19 home meetings.
