KATHMANDU: Chitwan Rhinos suffered their third defeat in five games of the tournament, despite David Malan believing the target set was sufficient for victory.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Malan admitted that while the decision to change the opening partnership was correct, the team failed to perform in the second innings.

He praised teammate Ravi Bopara for consistent performances in recent matches and expressed satisfaction at contributing with the bat himself.

Malan noted that winning the next two games could secure a playoff spot and pledged to work hard for those victories.

Janakpur Bolts captain Anil Sah said he was delighted to open his personal and team’s scoring accounts. After four consecutive losses, today’s win was vital for boosting team morale. Sah added that the early victory would also improve their net run rate, and he preferred to focus on the remaining matches before discussing playoff chances.

Acknowledging the pressure from previous low scores, Sah said scoring runs and winning today was a personal and team relief.

Even though he stepped down as captain, he remains eager to play when the team needs him.

He highlighted the abundance of experienced players in the squad and explained that being left out after poor performances is natural.

Sah concluded by expressing confidence that Janakpur supporters would continue to follow the team, wherever they play.
