KATHMANDU: A man widely known online as “Nepali Bro,” identified as Kumar Thapa Magar, has reportedly confessed to killing his wife, while maintaining that he acted alone in the incident, according to police.

His wife, Ishwari Bhujel, died during treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj after being attacked on June 5 in Tarkeshwar Municipality–6, Lolang, Paiyutar area. Police said Thapa Magar told investigators that he alone was responsible for the fatal assault, rejecting any involvement of others currently in custody.

Authorities have also detained several individuals for questioning, including his brother Bikram Thapa Magar, a friend Pujan Thapa, and a woman identified as Pratiksha Acharya, who has acknowledged being in a romantic relationship with the accused but denies any role in the killing.

According to Kathmandu District Police, all three co-detainees have denied the allegations against them during interrogation. Investigators say their involvement has not been established so far. Police spokesperson said the case remains under active investigation, with custody extensions granted by the Kathmandu District Court to allow further inquiry.

Officials added that, based on current findings, the murder charge is expected to be filed primarily against Thapa Magar, while the others may not face direct criminal liability depending on the final report submitted to the government attorney’s office. Investigators are expected to conclude their report within a week before forwarding the case for prosecution.
