Maharaj Gurung appointed Chair of Youth Union

KATHMANDU: Maharaj Gurung has been elected chair of the Youth Union affiliated with Nepal’s CPN-UML, following a central youth council meeting on Friday.

Kshitij Thebe, who was previously the chair, handed over the leadership after he was elected a member of the Central Committee.

Under UML tradition, election to a higher committee necessitates vacating the lower-level post.

Thebe, who had previously won consecutive terms as union chairman, is also a candidate for the House of Representatives from Taplejung.

Gurung had served as the union’s vice-chairman, a position he had also held for consecutive terms.
