Magnesite industry operation to follow DDA report: Minister Bhandari
He further informed the House that the Cabinet meeting held on Baisakh 15, 2082 BS had approved a proposal to manage government investments in seven public enterprises, including Nepal Orient Magnesite.
KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, has stated that the decision regarding the operation of the Nepal Orient Magnesite Pvt. Ltd. located in Kharidhunga, Dolakha, will be made based on the Detailed Diagnostic Analysis (DDA) report.
Responding to queries raised by lawmakers during Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Bhandari explained that the ministry had formed various study task forces at different times to analyze the status of Nepal Orient Magnesite Pvt. Ltd. and other similar enterprises. Action will be taken based on the recommendations received from those reports, he said.
He further informed the House that the Cabinet meeting held on Baisakh 15, 2082 BS had approved a proposal to manage government investments in seven public enterprises, including Nepal Orient Magnesite.
In line with that decision, the Ministry of Finance has already initiated the formation of a DDA study team.
“Based on the analysis and findings of the DDA report, the most appropriate option will be selected to determine whether or not to resume operations at the plant,” Minister Bhandari said.
The Minister also shared that the Ministry had sent a letter to the Government Investment Committee through the Ministry of Finance on Magh 25, 2080 BS, regarding the management of government investments in ailing public enterprises.
Discussions and presentations regarding the potential reoperation of long-closed industries have also been taking place at the ministry level, he added.
