Lumbini to begin debate on annual policy, programme today

KATHMANDU: The seventh meeting under the eighth session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly is scheduled to convene at 1 PM on Tuesday, with discussions on the government’s annual policy and programme for the fiscal year 2083/84 set to begin.

According to the tentative agenda released by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, the meeting will open with lawmakers expressing their views on contemporary issues during the zero hour session.

Following this, Minister for Social Development Janmajaya Timilsina will table the “Bill on the Protection of Traditional Practices of the Tharu Community, 2083” in the assembly.

Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya is also scheduled to present a copy of the Lumbini Province Government’s annual policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year, which was earlier unveiled by the Provincial Chief.

Provincial Assembly member Tulsiprasad Chaudhary will present a motion of thanks regarding the annual policy and programme, while assembly member Jamuna Dhakal will support the proposal.

The Speaker will then put the motion to a decision.

The agenda further states that Chief Minister Acharya will propose the commencement of discussions on the annual policy and programme.

Provincial Assembly members are expected to participate in deliberations following the proposal, the Secretariat said.
