Lumbini Province to mark ‘Republic Day’ with series of events

KATHMANDU: Lumbini Province is set to observe Republic Day with a range of official programmes aimed at highlighting democratic values and federal governance.
A main ceremony committee, coordinated by Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya, has been formed to oversee the celebrations and ensure the day is marked with dignity and grandeur.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, a lamp-lighting ceremony will be held on the evening of May 28 at the provincial ministry, subordinate offices, and other government bodies.
On the same morning, a cleanliness drive will be carried out at the provincial administrative centre as part of the observance activities.
The main Republic Day ceremony will take place on the morning of May 29, featuring participation from provincial ministers, members of the Provincial Assembly, security chiefs, civil servants, representatives of various organisations, and members of the public.
The provincial government has been marking Republic Day annually as a symbol of Nepal’s democratic achievements, federal structure, and citizens’ rights.
