KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions secured their third victory of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) with a five-wicket win over Biratnagar Kings on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 145, Lumbini reached 146/5 with opener D’Arcy Short top-scoring with a solid 57 runs, guiding his team to an important win.
For Biratnagar, captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Subash Bhandari claimed two wickets each, while Basir Ahmad picked up one.
Earlier, after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Biratnagar Kings posted 144/8 in their 20 overs.
Lokesh Bam scored 35, Basir Ahmad added 28, and Sam Hain contributed 27. Lumbini’s Sher Malla impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets.
With this win, Lumbini climbed to six points, boosting their chances of reaching the playoffs. Biratnagar, who currently have eight points from six matches, also remain in the playoff race.
