Laminar Tiles awarded Nepal Quality Mark for fully vitrified tiles
Both products have been certified under the NS 617:2082 standard, marking a major achievement for the Nepalese ceramics industry.
KATHMANDU: Lumbini Ceramics Limited has achieved a significant milestone as its flagship products, Laminar Tiles and Cresta Tiles, have been awarded the Nepal Quality Mark by the Department of Nepal Standards and Metrology.
Both products have been certified under the NS 617:2082 standard, marking a major achievement for the Nepalese ceramics industry.
According to the company, Laminar Tiles received the Fully Vitrified Tiles (Group B1A) certification, while Cresta Tiles earned recognition as Porcelain Tiles (Group B1B).
Commenting on the accomplishment, Managing Director Aashutosh Khetan emphasized that obtaining certification for both fully vitrified and porcelain tiles represents a milestone for the Nepalese ceramics sector. “Receiving the Nepal Quality Mark establishes clear, scientific, and nationally recognized standards for measuring tile quality. It also validates our ability to deliver internationally competitive products at affordable prices through transparent classification and certification,” Khetan said.
The NS 617 certification aligns with India’s quality standard IS 15622, and in certain parameters, it also meets the European ISO 13006 standard.
With this certification, Nepal’s ceramics industry has now demonstrated its capability to produce internationally recognized, high-quality products.
The company highlighted that Nepali consumers will now benefit from scientifically classified and transparently certified domestic tiles.
Product Highlights
Laminar’s fully vitrified tiles are low-absorption tiles, preventing staining, color fading, and wear due to friction.
These tiles are ideal for high-traffic areas, wet zones, balconies, parking areas, and both floors and walls in homes and commercial spaces.
Cresta Tiles, meanwhile, are designed as cost-effective solutions for residential and commercial use. These porcelain tiles are durable, water-resistant, and available in modern designs suitable for both floors and walls.
The company has also classified its tiles for consumer convenience, allowing buyers to easily identify which tiles are suitable for specific spaces, their quality, and their price range.
Enhanced Transparency and Safety
The NS 617-certified tiles carry their group classification on each tile’s edge, enabling customers, masons, or project managers to verify the type of tile before installation, significantly reducing the risk of misinformation or fraud.
Both Laminar and Cresta Tiles are manufactured at the company’s Bardiya-based factory, utilizing glazes and advanced digital ink technology imported from Spain and Italy.
The company adheres strictly to international standards, including ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety), prioritizing quality, environmental responsibility, and worker safety.
The tiles are available nationwide through authorized dealers, and customers can also view the products at the Laminar Experience Center in North Gate, Kathmandu.
