Locals urge Rathore to tackle rising human–wildlife conflict
Responding to the concerns, Rathore acknowledged that managing human–wildlife conflict has become increasingly challenging.
KATHMANDU: Ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives elections, local residents of Bardiya-2 have urged Nepali Congress leader and candidate Kishore Singh Rathore to address the growing human–wildlife conflict in the region.
During an interaction with voters, locals highlighted that wild animals frequently enter settlements from Banke and Bardiya National Parks, resulting in increased attacks and fatalities.
They stressed the need for effective measures to manage the escalating conflict between humans and wildlife.
Kaman Singh Saud, a resident of Thakurbaba Municipality-3, said that citizens in areas bordering Banke and Bardiya feel increasingly unsafe and have appealed to Rathore to initiate solutions to the ongoing problem.
Responding to the concerns, Rathore acknowledged that managing human–wildlife conflict has become increasingly challenging.
He pledged to consult and coordinate with relevant authorities to find effective solutions.
According to his private secretariat, Rathore has been actively meeting locals, engaging in discussions, and collecting suggestions on pressing community issues.
Local resident Kaushila Tamata highlighted Rathore’s prior contributions to Bardiya’s development and emphasized his commitment to addressing human–wildlife conflict, farmers’ concerns, and infrastructure challenges such as roads and bridges through planned interventions.
Thakurbaba Municipality Chief and Congress leader Tilak Lamsal noted that suggestions have so far been collected on urgent issues including wildlife management, agriculture, and road improvements.
Rathore previously won the 2079 (2022) House of Representatives election from Banke-3, securing 29,040 votes.
