Late-night attack damages RSP office in Jhapa, probe underway
According to the District Police Office, the upper-floor windows of the office were shattered in the attack, and glass in the residential area of the house was also damaged.
KATHMANDU: The contact office of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was targeted in a stone-throwing attack late Tuesday night in Jhapa’s Kamal Rural Municipality-2.
The office operates from a rented house owned by Jayprakash Adhikari.
According to the District Police Office, the upper-floor windows of the office were shattered in the attack, and glass in the residential area of the house was also damaged.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Shivaraj Gelal stated that security personnel were immediately deployed after receiving information about the incident, and an investigation is underway.
He added that while the office’s interior suffered no major damage, the outer windows were broken. “We are taking this incident very seriously and investigating it thoroughly,” CDO Gelal said.
RSP regional chair Bhesraj Bhattarai condemned the attack, stating that such lawless acts are unacceptable in a democratic society and called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice immediately.
The police said the assailants have not yet been identified, but search efforts are being intensified.
The midnight incident has heightened security concerns in the local area.
