KMC issues 15-day ultimatum to clear Galaxy 4K office assets
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a final notice directing to clear out all assets from the office space used by Galaxy 4K Television within 15 days, escalating a long-running property dispute.
The action stems from a case filed by a resident of Ward No. 3 of Kathmandu against Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd. and its chair GB Rai over unpaid rent and eviction of a leased property. The city’s judicial committee had ruled in favor of the complainant on Kartik 14, 2081 BS, ordering the defendants to clear dues and vacate the premises.
After the order was not implemented, the Patan High Court later issued a mandamus on Shrawan 28, 2082 BS, instructing the metropolitan office to enforce the ruling within two months. Acting on that directive, municipal authorities began eviction procedures on Kartik 14, 2082 BS.
With the belongings still remaining in the property months later, the landlord approached the metropolis again seeking auction of the assets. Following the petition, the city has now issued what it calls a final 15-day ultimatum, warning that unpaid rent and unremoved property will lead to auction under judicial committee procedures.
The television outlet, previously operated under the leadership of Rabi Lamichhane with investment from GB Rai and others, ceased operations after Lamichhane entered politics.
