KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol has emphasized that no child should be deprived of their fundamental right to education.
Speaking at a program where the metropolis reached an understanding with PABSON and N-PABSON on child education and housing, Dangol praised private schools for their initiative and cooperation in providing hostel-based education for children.
She encouraged students to study with dedication and grow into responsible citizens, regardless of whether they become doctors, police officers, soldiers, or teachers.
Interacting with the children, she also showed interest in their aspirations and goals.
“Our main objective is to ensure that no child is deprived of the right to education. The commitment shown by PABSON and N-PABSON, not only in Kathmandu but across the country, is highly commendable,” she said.
The initiative specifically targets children from families displaced from riverside informal settlements who are currently living in holding centers. The metropolis has arranged continued schooling for these children with residential facilities.
According to the city, educational continuity has been ensured through coordination with institutional schools, based on the choice of parents and students.
A tripartite agreement among the metropolis, guardians, and concerned schools has been implemented to provide residential and either free or subsidized education to the students.
