KATHMANDU: After an explosive innings from captain Karan KC, Kathmandu Gorkhas set a target of 158 runs for Lumbini Lions in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 clash.
Batting first at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Kathmandu Gorkhas posted 157/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Karan KC, coming in at the lower order, scored an unbeaten 34 off just 11 balls, smashing 4 sixes and a four, including 31 runs in the 19th over against Namibia pacer Ruben Trumpelmann.
Kathmandu Gorkhas’ innings got off to a shaky start as opener Ben Charlesworth was bowled by Sher Malla in the first over.
Rashid Khan contributed 14 runs from 10 balls with 2 fours, while opener Aakash Tripathi scored 32 off 36 deliveries.
Other notable contributions included Santosh Yadav’s 26 off 16 balls with 2 sixes, Milind Kumar’s 17 off 20, and Jehrard Erasmus’ 17 off 15 with 2 fours.
Sahib Alam remained unbeaten on 1.
For Lumbini, Sher, captain Rohit Paudel, Gulbadin Naib, and Trumpelman took two wickets each.
Paudel conceded 9 runs in his over, Sher gave away 33 in 4 overs, Naib 20 in 3, and Trumpelman 43 in 4 overs.
Lumbini Lions will now chase a challenging 158-run target in this crucial NPL encounter.
