Kane fires England past New Zealand

KATHMANDU: England secured a 1-0 victory over New Zealand in an international friendly as captain Harry Kane’s first-half stoppage-time header proved decisive at Raymond James Stadium.

Despite dominating the match and registering 23 shots, England managed only one goal.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel made a complete overhaul at halftime, replacing all 11 players.

Dan Burn came close to doubling the lead but saw his effort strike the post.

Kane continued his remarkable scoring form, netting his 11th goal in his last 11 appearances for England.

The striker also set a new record by scoring against 35 different international opponents for the Three Lions.

Tuchel, who started Kane and Ollie Watkins together for the first time, will now turn his attention to Wednesday’s friendly against Costa Rica.
