Jumla launches voter education

KATHMANDU: The District Election Office in Jumla has begun preparations to deploy volunteers for a comprehensive voter education program ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for Falgun 21 .

According to Election Officer Dipendra Kandel, voter education volunteers will be assigned across all 60 wards of the district’s eight local units, with one volunteer per ward, working in their designated areas from Falgun 3 to 17.

The volunteers will focus on encouraging maximum voter participation, educating citizens about proper voting procedures, reducing invalid votes, raising awareness on the election code of conduct, and promoting a festive and informed election atmosphere. Orientation programs for voter education monitors have already been conducted.

The volunteers will include child development facilitators, female health volunteers, social mobilizers, maternal health workers, and community study center coordinators.

The district has 85 polling sites and 110 polling centers, according to the District Election Office.

A total of 71,739 voters are registered in Jumla for the elections, including 34,280 women and 37,459 men.
