Gen Z protest: Journalists sustained injuries

KATHMANDU: Several journalists were injured after police fired rubber bullets during the ongoing Gen Z protest in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.
Kantipur Television journalist Shyam Shrestha was hit in the arm while covering the demonstration. According to Rupesh Shrestha, Deputy News Chief at Kantipur TV, Shyam is currently receiving treatment at Civil Hospital.
In addition to Shrestha, two other journalists were also injured. Dipendra Dhungana, a photojournalist at Naya Patrika, and Umesh Karki of Nepal Press suffered injuries from rubber bullets.
Karki sustained minor injuries from pellets, while Dhungana was hospitalized following the impact.
Karki also reported that several other protesters were injured during the police action.
The incident highlights growing tensions as youth protesters demand accountability over social media restrictions and corruption, clashing with authorities in the area.
