KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has released the sample ballot for Jhapa Constituency No. 5, the much-anticipated battleground between CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balendra “Balen” Shah.

According to the officially published ballot, the symbols of the major political parties appear in the first row. Oli’s CPN-UML is represented by the “Surya (Sun)”, followed by Nepali Congress’s “Rukh (Tree)”, NCP’s “Panchkune Tara (Pentagon Star)”, Balen Shah’s “Ghanti (Bell)” for RSP, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s “Halo (Plough)”.

A total of 24 candidates are contesting in this constituency, which has attracted nationwide attention.

Other parties, including JSP, Janmat Party, Mongol National Organization, as well as independent candidates, have also been allocated unique electoral symbols.

The release of the ballot for this high-profile contest has further intensified political excitement in Jhapa-5, widely regarded as one of the most closely watched constituencies in the upcoming elections.
