KATHMANDU: Janakpur Bolts and Karnali Yaks are playing for pride in the final league match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Sunday, with both teams already out of playoff contention.

Janakpur captain Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton won the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and elected to field first.

Janakpur made three changes to their lineup, bringing in Lalit Rajbanshi, Pappu Yadav and Tul Bahadur Thapa Magar in place of Rupesh Singh, Subash Khakurel Konsakar and Sachin Bhattaa.

Both Pappu and Tul Bahadur are making their NPL debuts, with Pappu selected through the talent hunt program.

Karnali also reshuffled their team, including Imran Sheikh, Arjun Gharti Magar and William Bosisto in the playing XI.

This marks Imran’s first appearance of the tournament. Jaykishan Kolsawala, Yunis Bikram Singh Thakuri and Bipin Sharma have been benched.

Defending champions Janakpur struggled this season, losing five of their six matches. Last season’s third-placed Karnali shared a similar fate, also suffering defeats in five out of six games.

The winner of today’s match will finish sixth in the standings, while the losing side will end the season at the bottom in eighth place.
