KATHMANDU: India posted a competitive total of 175 for 7 against Pakistan in their Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to field first.
India made a brisk start but failed to fully capitalize on the strong batting conditions to push beyond 180.
Openers got off to a mixed start as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck, but Ishan Kishan played a superb innings, scoring 77 off 40 balls.
His knock included 10 fours and 3 sixes, providing the backbone of India’s innings.
However, the scoring rate slowed noticeably after his dismissal.
Tilak Varma contributed 25 runs, while captain Suryakumar Yadav added 32.
Shivam Dube chipped in with a valuable 27 to help India reach 175 for 7 at the end of their 20 overs.
Among the Pakistani bowlers, Saim Ayub was the pick of the attack, claiming three wickets for 25 runs.
Both teams came into the match with four points each, having won their first two matches in Group A.
