KATHMANDU: India has provided Nepal with its third batch of election-related assistance ahead of the upcoming parliamentary polls.

In a ceremony held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, formally handed over more than 270 vehicles and other essential materials to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

The support was delivered in line with Nepal’s requirements for preparing and conducting the elections.

Among the items transferred, 50 trucks were allocated to the Nepal Army and received by Chief of Army Staff, General Ashok Raj Sigdel, from the Indian ambassador.

Expressing gratitude for the timely assistance, Home Minister Aryal highlighted the deep trust, friendship, and shared democratic values that guide Nepal-India relations. He praised the extensive cooperation between the two countries, which has strengthened both operational readiness and bilateral ties.

This follows India’s earlier provision of more than 310 vehicles and materials in two previous batches, delivered on Jan 20 and Jan 29, respectively.

According to the Indian Embassy, further assistance will be provided in multiple phases in the coming days.

Officials noted that this collaboration underscores the multi-dimensional development partnership between Nepal and India and reflects the enduring bond between the peoples of the two nations.
