Harak demands parliamentary probe into BYD alleged scandal
Rai said multiple suspicions and allegations surrounding the case must be clarified through a parliamentary inquiry so that public concerns can be addressed.
KATHMANDU: Opposition leader and Chair of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Harka Raj Rai, has called for the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee to probe the alleged irregularities in the import and export of BYD vehicles.
Speaking to journalists at the Federal Parliament premises on Tuesday, Rai said there have been growing discussions about possible tax evasion in BYD vehicle transactions, allegedly involving Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. He stressed that an impartial investigation is necessary to uncover the truth.
Rai said multiple suspicions and allegations surrounding the case must be clarified through a parliamentary inquiry so that public concerns can be addressed.
“A parliamentary probe committee must be formed to investigate the BYD scandal,” he said.
He also urged the government to ensure transparency and publicly present the facts through a formal investigation.
In a separate remark, Rai dismissed media reports claiming that he had been penalized by traffic police, saying he was unaware of any such action against him.
