KATHMANDU: The government has decided to form a coordination committee to address problems in the transport sector and public complaints.

The decision came after a meeting on Tuesday at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, attended by Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Chief SSP Navaraj Adhikari, officials from the Department of Transport Management, and the ministry’s secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma.

The discussion focused on issues related to traffic signals, roadside signage, and overall traffic management.

Minister Madhav Prasad Chaulagain said frequent public complaints highlighted the need for a coordinated approach, as many transport issues cannot be resolved by a single agency alone.

He emphasized that lack of coordination among agencies has made some problems more complex and assured that the committee would be formed immediately.

The committee will hold regular meetings to address complaints promptly.

Minister Chaulagain also noted that the traffic police would play an active role in raising awareness and facilitating solutions, while some policy reforms were also discussed during the meeting.
