KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary has said the government is giving special priority to ensuring that farmers do not face a shortage of fertilizers.

Responding to queries raised by lawmakers in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Minister Chaudhary informed Parliament that the government has already initiated the process to procure 50,000 metric tons of fertilizer from India.

She also noted that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has disrupted fertilizer production and supply chains, affecting global availability.

The minister further stated that the government is promoting the balanced use of chemical fertilizers while encouraging the use of organic and compost-based alternatives.

Chaudhary also claimed that the government has distributed more chemical fertilizer in the current fiscal year compared to previous years.
