KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Dr. Sunil Sharma has demanded immediate revision of the law that prohibits tourists from entering Nepal with more than 25,000 Indian currency.

He said this while speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday.

He drew the government’s attention to the fact that Turkish cardiologist Abdullah Mini was arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport on Falgun 3 (Feb 15) for bringing 96,000 IC and demanded to revise the rule that no more than 25,000 Indian rupees can be brought within 24 hours.

He stated that if Nepal wants to become a tourist-friendly country and ensure the sustainability of its tourism industry, the system must be altered soon.

He stated that it is important to consider if the law was intended to help or harm Nepal’s tourism industry.

Will he govern the tourism business by bringing only those with no money to Nepal? asked.

MP Sharma criticized the government of irresponsible behavior.

He claimed that while the opposition spoke in parliament, the ruling party’s MPs were not allowed to speak.

He stated that there is a pattern of suppressing the voices of the opposition.
