KATHMANDU: The Government has announced plans to establish the country’s own satellite.
This initiative was revealed in the upcoming fiscal year’s policies and programs presented by the government.
On Tuesday, President Ramchandra Paudel, while presenting the government’s policies and programs at the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament, stated that satellite-based internet services would be introduced in remote and inaccessible areas.
President Paudel emphasized the development of digital literacy to expand access to information technology for women, minorities, and disadvantaged communities and regions.
He stated, “Satellite-based internet services will be initiated in remote and inaccessible areas. Measures will be implemented to enhance research, countermeasures, and public awareness regarding cybersecurity. Digital literacy will be developed to expand information technology access for women, minorities, and disadvantaged communities and regions. Efforts to establish Nepal’s own satellite will be advanced.”
President Paudel also highlighted the importance of making cybersecurity measures more effective.
