Game plan worked perfectly: Sandeep Lamichhane
After winning the toss and opting to field, he revealed the team aimed to chase any target within 13.4 overs.
KATHMANDU: Biratnagar Kings captain Sandeep Lamichhane said the team played with a clear plan to secure second place in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), despite already qualifying for the playoffs.
After winning the toss and opting to field, he revealed the team aimed to chase any target within 13.4 overs.
While there were minor lapses in bowling, Lamichhane praised the overall performance, highlighting the importance of a strong opening partnership.
Faf du Plessis, representing Biratnagar Kings, said the team capitalized during the powerplay, benefiting from both left- and right-handed batsmen against spin bowling.
He described Sandeep as a “special bowler” on the global stage and said the team places high expectations on him. Du Plessis also expressed his admiration for Nepal’s cricketing culture and said he was inspired by the experience.
Sudurpaschim Royals player Aarif Sheikh called the match overall “good” and said it went as per their efforts.
He noted that the team gave opportunities to new players in the playing XI, which would benefit future games.
Sheikh admitted the bowling during the powerplay could have been better but emphasized that the Royals were not under pressure.
He also praised Biratnagar Kings’ batting performance in the powerplay.
Sheikh added that having world-class players in Nepal provides learning opportunities for both local cricketers and fans.
He affirmed that the team is not solely dependent on foreign players, as Nepali cricketers are contributing strongly to the game.
