Four killed in mini truck accident

KATHMANDU: Four people lost their lives in a tragic mini truck accident last night in Konjyosom Rural Municipality–1, Baundanda, Lalitpur.

The mini truck (Bagmati Province 01-004 Kha 6228), which was transporting sand from Lele toward Kaleshwar, veered off the road and plunged nearly 500 meters down a hillside.

The accident occurred at around 9:00 PM.

According to Lalitpur District Police, two people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at Patan Hospital.

Those who died at the scene have been identified as the truck driver, 52-year-old Ganesh Khadka of Godawari Municipality–6, Lalitpur, and 42-year-old Ganesh Thapa from the same area.

The two other victims, estimated to be around 40 and 50 years old, were critically injured and rushed to Patan Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Their identities have not yet been confirmed, and police said efforts are underway to establish their identities.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

Police suspect the truck may have lost control due to overspeeding or a possible mechanical failure.

A detailed investigation into the incident is ongoing.
