FM Deuba urges climate change laws as national priority
She highlighted that climate change is a borderless crisis affecting human civilization and requires collective action from all countries.
KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has emphasized the need to enact laws addressing climate change as a national priority.
Speaking at the Conference of Parliamentarians from the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region, she highlighted that climate change is a borderless crisis affecting human civilization and requires collective action from all countries.
Minister Deuba stressed that climate change is a shared threat to humanity that does not recognize any country, geography, or political affiliation.
She noted that the climate crisis is no longer just a prediction for the future but a reality experienced daily.
She urged all stakeholders to play their part by making climate action a national agenda, mobilizing resources, and holding governments accountable.
Deuba also clarified that addressing issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, air pollution, and other environmental challenges cannot rely solely on government efforts.
