Five women test COVID-19 positive at Gauriphanta border

KATHMANDU: Five women returning from India via the Kanchanpur-Gauriphanta border have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Sudurpaschim Province Health Emergency Operations Center.
Among the infected, three are from Kailali and two from Achham.
Antigen tests were conducted on 30 symptomatic returnees, said Information Officer Hemraj Joshi.
All infected individuals are in home quarantine with symptoms like fever and cough. Their samples have been sent to Kathmandu for confirmation.
Earlier, three of 36 returnees had also tested positive, bringing the total to eight cases in three days.
A health desk has been operating at the border for screenings.
Joshi said 200 new test kits have arrived and a similar desk will be set up at Gaddachauki within a few days.
