KATHMANDU: Spectators at the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur have praised the second edition of the tournament for its improved facilities and technology, while pointing out gaps in food and restroom management.

The stadium, built to international standards with a capacity of 10,000 and equipped with floodlights for night matches, has enhanced the excitement of the NPL, said Bishal Joshi, a supporter of Sudurpashchim Royals who traveled from Tikapur, Kailali.

He noted that although seating, viewing, and overall stadium capacity have improved, facilities such as tea, water, and toilets remain inadequate.

“Compared to last year, entrance management was better, and security and parking were smoother. However, insufficient toilets and lack of affordable food and water caused inconvenience. On the first day, water wasn’t even available, but the organizers addressed it on the second day after spectators raised complaints,” Joshi added. He also highlighted that while a few stalls offered restaurant-style services, most were expensive for average spectators.

Shanti Shah, who came with her seven-year-old son, appreciated the smoother ticketing process compared to last year but expressed disappointment at missing her preferred team’s game due to quick ticket sales. “Last year, I had to stand to watch the match, but this time we could comfortably enjoy it as a family,” she said.

Rajesh Rana, a supporter of Karnali X, also appreciated the improved arrangements. “Last year, we had to sit in the cold open ground, but now the stadium meets international standards and the management is more effective. Even with higher ticket prices, the entry and distribution process is well-organized,” he said.

Likewise, Jumla-based fan Tarun Kafle said the NPL has significantly improved compared to last year. “Previously, tickets were sold in black and anyone could enter without control. Now, ticketing and security are effectively managed,” he noted.

While the second edition has been lauded for better seating, floodlights, and security, fans hope the organizers will further improve basic amenities such as food stalls and toilets to match the international standard of the stadium.
