Economy projected to reach Rs 66 trillion; per capita income at $1,535
At the provincial level, Bagmati Province is expected to maintain the highest contribution to the national economy.
KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has presented the Economic Survey for fiscal year 2082/83, projecting strong macroeconomic indicators for the country despite global headwinds.
According to the government’s estimates, Nepal’s total economic size is expected to reach around Rs 66 trillion, while per capita national income is projected to rise to USD 1,535.
The survey shows the structure of the economy remains heavily service-driven, with agriculture contributing 24 percent to GDP and the non-agricultural sector accounting for 76 percent.
At the provincial level, Bagmati Province is expected to maintain the highest contribution to the national economy.
Globally, economic growth is projected to slow to 3.1 percent in 2026. Despite this subdued international outlook, Nepal’s economy is forecast to expand by 3.85 percent in the current fiscal year.
However, the report highlights regional disparities, noting that all provinces except Bagmati and Gandaki are likely to grow below the national average.
