KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has announced that all preparations for the upcoming March 5 elections have been completed.

Speaking at a training program in Kathmandu, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ramprasad Bhandari confirmed that the printing of ballots has been completed and transportation has begun, with election materials expected to reach polling centers ahead of schedule.

He emphasized that the commission has successfully navigated all complex challenges, treating the upcoming election as a national responsibility.

Bhandari acknowledged that initial phases faced some logistical hurdles, but all required materials are now in place.

The commission has already begun dispatching ballots and other essential supplies to constituencies and polling stations.

A detailed schedule ensures that polling officers will receive their materials before deployment.

This election will see a historic addition of 950,000 new voters. The commission has highlighted the critical role of media in ensuring accurate and factual reporting to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

Citing Bangladesh as an example, Bhandari stressed that free, fair, and disciplined elections are essential to strengthening democracy, with no alternative to the electoral process.

The commission called for integrated support from security agencies and media to ensure a peaceful and fear-free voting environment.
