EC prints 15M PR ballot papers

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has announced that printing of 15 million ballot papers for the proportional representation (PR) electoral system has been completed.
The ballot printing process began on Magh 2 at the Janak Education Materials Centre Limited.
According to the Commission, printing of the remaining 5 million ballot papers is still underway.
The Commission stated that printing of ballot papers for the first-past-the-post (direct) electoral system will begin immediately after the completion of PR ballot printing.
The final list of candidates for the direct election system has already been finalized.
For nomination purposes, one copy of the voters’ list was printed and distributed to all districts earlier.
Ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, the Election Commission has published the final list of 3,406 candidates. Election symbols were also allocated on Friday.
According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the final list includes 3,017 male candidates, 388 female candidates, and one candidate under the ‘other’ category.
The Commission noted that the entire election process—from candidate nomination to withdrawal—was conducted peacefully and in an enthusiastic manner.
The list of candidates under the proportional representation system has also already been published.
