EC completes ballot printing for 124 constituencies in 58 districts

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has completed the printing of ballot papers for 124 constituencies in 58 districts in preparation for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

According to EC Assistant Spokesperson Prakash Neupane, a total of 15,778,000 ballot papers have been printed so far.

By Wednesday, ballot printing had been completed in 53 districts, with five additional districts finalized today.

Ballots for these districts have also been packed.

So far, 14,341 boxes of ballot papers have been packed.

The Commission is currently printing between 1.3 million and 1.5 million ballot papers daily, while approximately 1,000 boxes are being packed each day.

Ballot printing for both the Proportional Representation (PR) and First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral systems began on Poush 22 at Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi.

In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various districts.

Printing of ballot papers under the Proportional Representation system began on Poush 26 and was completed on Magh 13.

A total of 20,830,000 PR ballot papers have been printed, packed, verified, and kept ready for transportation.

For the First-Past-The-Post system, the Commission plans to print 20,323,000 ballot papers. Printing under the FPTP system began on Magh 16 morning and is currently underway.

Ballots Dispatched to Karnali Province

The EC has started dispatching printed ballot papers to Karnali Province from today. Ballots have been sent to 12 constituencies across 10 districts in the province.

The districts receiving ballots include Salyan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet, according to Assistant Spokesperson Neupane.

The Commission has stated that ballot printing, packing, verification, and transportation are progressing as scheduled to ensure timely and smooth conduct of the upcoming parliamentary election.
