KATHMANDU: Renowned cancer specialist Dr. Bhola Prasad Rauniyar has joined Nobel Cancer Hospital, operated under Nobel Medical College in Kanchanbari, Biratnagar.

This development marks a significant milestone for cancer treatment in eastern Nepal, as patients will now have access to expert oncology care outside the capital city.

Dr. Rauniyar is one of Nepal’s most respected physicians and medical oncologists, dedicating over four decades to cancer treatment.

He is among the pioneers of medical oncology practice in the country.

Previously, he served as the head of the Medical Oncology Department at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur.

His expertise spans the treatment of major tumors including breast, ovarian, and lung cancers.

He specializes in targeted therapy, immunotherapy, metastatic cancer care, and palliative care aimed at improving patients’ quality of life. Dr. Rauniyar is also highly experienced in managing complications and side effects resulting from chemotherapy.

With Dr. Rauniyar’s inclusion, Nobel Cancer Hospital has strengthened its position as a leading cancer treatment center.

Patients from eastern Nepal are expected to benefit from high-quality treatment without needing to travel to Kathmandu.

In recent months, Nobel Medical College has introduced Nepal’s first advanced cancer treatment technologies, including radiation therapy using cutting-edge equipment.

The new facility, built with an investment of approximately Rs 3.4 billion, is staffed by highly skilled doctors and medical professionals.

The hospital offers state-of-the-art features like 6D couch, HyperArc, HD-MIC, SRS, and SBRT, enabling non-surgical cancer treatments.

Technologies such as GRT, IMRT, and VMAT allow precise targeting of cancer cells while sparing healthy tissues. In addition, brachytherapy provides pain-free internal treatment using specialized instruments.

Nobel has also pioneered the use of intra-operative MRI (iMRI) for successful neurosurgeries on thousands of patients in Nepal, significantly improving surgical safety and outcomes.

Nobel Cancer Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services including daily OPD consultations, laboratory tests, X-ray, CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, daycare, chemotherapy, surgeries, inpatient care, and radiation therapy.

With these advancements, Nobel Cancer Hospital is rapidly emerging as one of Nepal’s premier cancer treatment centers.

The Nobel institution is led by popular Nepali Congress youth leader and Member of Parliament, Dr. Sunil Sharma. Notably, Dr. Sharma is the only MP in Nepal who voluntarily forgoes his salary and allowances.
