Deuba among 7 most absent MPs in HoR
A total of seven lawmakers, including Deuba, were absent for more than 10 meetings during the session, citing various reasons.
KATHMANDU: The winter session of the federal parliament, which began on Jan 31, concluded today.
In the final session of the winter session, Speaker of the House, Devraj Ghimire, disclosed the names of the lawmakers who were absent 10 times or more during the session.
Among those frequently absent was the President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba.
A total of seven lawmakers, including Deuba, were absent for more than 10 meetings during the session, citing various reasons.
The lawmaker with the highest number of absences was Nepali Congress MP Manorama Sherchan, who missed 27 meetings due to undergoing therapy, as informed by Speaker Ghimire.
According to Ghimire, other absent members included Lila Devi Bokhim Limbu (14 days), Saraswati Bajimay (11 days), Ramesh Rizal (12 days), Deepak Bohara (21 days), Sher Bahadur Deuba (11 days), and Gita Basnet (27 days).
Speaker Ghimire mentioned that some MPs were receiving medical treatment, while others were on foreign trips.
The meeting on Tuesday approved the leave applications of the members of the House of Representatives.
