KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has officially denied media reports claiming that it proposed an electoral alliance with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

In a clarification issued on Thursday, the secretariat of CPN Convenor Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said recent reports published by some online media outlets were entirely false and misleading.

Those reports had alleged that Prachanda had approached RSP President Rabi Lamichhane with a proposal for an electoral alliance.

Prachanda’s Chief Personal Secretary, Govinda Acharya, stated that the party had taken serious note of the misleading coverage. “Neither the party convenor nor any other CPN leader has held any form of discussion with the RSP regarding electoral cooperation,” Acharya said.

The secretariat further urged the public and concerned stakeholders not to be misled by what it described as one-sided and unverified news reports circulated without official confirmation.

It emphasized the need for responsible journalism and accurate reporting, particularly on sensitive political matters such as electoral alliances.

The CPN reaffirmed that no talks, formal or informal, have been initiated with the RSP regarding election-related cooperation.
