KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case at the Special Court against three individuals on charges of giving contradictory and false statements while appearing as government witnesses in a bribery-related case.

The accused—Pralhad Gautam of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City, Biplav Pokhrel of Putalibazar Municipality, Syangja, and Rajesh Shrestha of Tripurasundari, Sindhupalchowk—were presented as state witnesses in an earlier case registered at the Special Court.

According to the CIAA, the trio failed to cooperate during the investigation and gave statements contradicting their earlier testimonies recorded before the investigation officer on May 8.

The Commission claims their court depositions were inconsistent with their previous statements.

The CIAA has also sought recovery of alleged bribe amounts from them: Rs 56,350 from Pokhrel, Rs 37,500 from Gautam, and Rs 27,350 from Shrestha.

The bribe was allegedly paid to Dhundiraj Dahal, who was earlier arrested on bribery charges.
